Masterclass at Festival of Quilts 2011

This year I decided to sign up for a Masterclass at the Festival of Quilts (held each August at the NEC, Birmingham, England) in place of taking a Summer School. I was lucky to get onto Jette Clover's class 'Exploring design through collage'.

I really enjoyed the two days. We worked our way through several exercises in black and white, grey tones and colour, starting with paper and then adding fabric too. We also covered methods for transferring images using gel medium.

I was working on the theme of 'river' and here is one of my pieces from day 1. For this we had to produce an A4 design in grey tones and then add in a highlight in colour.


One of the fabric pieces I started at the workshop will become my Journal Quilt for August.

    hi Karen. I am glad that you have posted an image of your work from the workshop at the FOQs. It is really nice. I am looking forward to seeing your Journal Quilt.
